The containers of manufactured goods, crude oil, natural resources and fossil fuels that are hauled around the world are breathtaking in scale, but who does this gargantuan system serve?

As he typed on a computer made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled in China, and shipped to the US where it connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, that then connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, connected to other hardware made with parts and materials sourced from around the globe, assembled somewhere, and put in use somewhere else, that then connected to my computer that was manufactured with sourced materials in a foreign country which then fired photons at me, arranged into symbols that my brain can interpret, reading his fricking nonsense and making me want to gouge my eyes out.

ETA: I mean frick how dumb of a question can you ask? Everything we take for granted from the bed I woke up on this morning, to the pumps that delivered water to my house, to the hot water heater that heated that water, to the pipes, to the yogurt I had for breakfast and coffee i drank, to the plate and mug they were in, to the shingles over my head, to the asphalt i drove on, to all of the parts that make up the truck I drive, to the oil that was refined to gasoline that my truck runs came from the earth as a raw good and was sent around the world to become a finished product that I can use. You ask who does it serve? It serves ME it serves YOU and unless you are an untouched tribe in the Amazon, it serves EVERYONE
