I would just call these guys friends/colleagues. I agree that these people are important, but when I hear the word "mentor" I automatically think of the Seinfeld episode with the mentor/protege. If I had a mentor, I would probably be happy that he built enough net worth to retire comfortably in thirty years, and not be distraught.
