The events in line of order
Bob Broadhead was into LSU as AD in 1981
Bob hired near all the who's who of LSU coaching in the off sports at the time, Skip, Henry, Sue, etc.
At the end of the 1983 season Bob has to fire Stovall and hire Bill.
Bob is on the outside looking in at that time, as he is not part of the good ole boys network.
Bill retires as football coach and to become the AD at Florida in late 1986.
Bob is forced out at LSU in Oct. 1986, and Joe Dean replaced him.
LSU lines up many candidates, names like Steve Spurrier, Mike Shanahan, and Mack Brown (who wanted the job very bad). brown was never in the races as he was know as a snake oil salesman. the team and most of the fans wanted Archer. Steve had not been a head coach on the college level yet, he would start coaching Duke in 1987.
Joe becomes the Ad in April 1987 if I remember correct.
Galen Hall is Florida's coach until the season of 1989 when he is replaced during the season by Gary Darnell. Galen got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and was canned fast.
Steve is hired to replace Galen and Gary for the 1990 season.
Bill never really want to be a head coach in college football. He wanted the team to come out level for games, never trying to pump them up for the big games. He hated to recruit.

Henry was hired by Dean. That said, Bob hired Seagrave, Seames, etc. who actually built the national championship program that Henry inherited.
