I said this in another thread. These coaches need to have HUGE buyouts. If he doesn't want that in his contract, move on with the coaching search. That tells you all you need to know about him. He's not in it for the long haul.
If a coach cannot sign a 5 year deal without a buyout, then he is going to be looking elsewhere in a few years.
You don't want him coaching your program.

Well Arkansas added a year's salary buyout and a clause saying Petrino couldn't go to another SEC-W team.

Agreed. You would think the top tier football programs could demand and require such a deal especially at the money they are paying now. Middle tier schools like Ole Miss and Miss. State not so much because they need to realize that as soon as their coach does well they are headed elsewhere.
But seriously, if we are going to pay a guy $4 million a year, it ain't just about this year. It is about enjoying the rewards of what comes in when he's had time to put in his system, develop his recruits, solidify high school contacts, etc. You can't do that in 2-3 years. If a guys is going to stay only 2-3 years then he's only worth about $1 million per year.
