Freshman Ed Alexander's sheer size — he's listed at 6-foot-2, 333 pounds — has left some players, coaches and media members with wide eyes. Alexander, a late qualifier from St. Thomas Aquinas, practiced with the rookies and reserves during Saturday afternoon's drills, but his tremendous size could lead to some early playing time. Miles earlier this week called Alexander a "ready-made" nose tackle, and several players have raved about his size. Greg Gilmore on Saturday during interviews called Alexander "Rougarou," his nickname, apparently. Rougarou is a creature in Cajun folklore similar to a werewolf.

I know Travonte brings depth and it would be good to have him here, but I bet Alexander can do as good or a better job at NT than him.

Commented about this before but big Ed and RS are ready to play right away according to watch coach O has said. T.Valentine is at least a solid year from being a stud on this team, if and when he shows up.

I saw a picture of that guy at check in. He is huge! I'd hate to be right across the scrimmage line from him.

it's a moniker that Ed started using in early 2014. Given to him by his mentor. He has called him self "La Rougarou" or "Louisianamal"

I think the term is "Loupgarou", Loup being French for wolf therefor Loupgarou is werewolf

Help a north Louisianian out a bit here. That pronounced Roux-jah-roux, roux-gah-roux or something different?

We used to talk about the Loupgarou in the Honey Island Swamp. Only vaguely remember talk of the Rougarou. Are they the same thing? I bet they are and that, like 'Acadian' to 'Cajun', it's a pronunciation that led to the adjusted spelling.

So we basically have a guy that fits the mold of what bama has been lining up against us for the last 5 years. Yeah Chavis and brick screwed us but big ed has us back on the path of DLU .
