Sure, but the problem is that many kids born into the worst situations have little to no guidance and/or role models to show them how it's done.

You hear stories of rags to riches, but they almost universally have a parent who was a huge inspiration or some outside role model who took interest in their success.

On the flip side, there are some kids who are, in all likelihood, screwed from birth. Things outside of their control have torpedoed basically any chance they had of making it out. That is the issue with the whole idea that we're all on a level playing field or what not. We aren't, and we never will be.
