But not the same means to take advantage of said opportunities. It's not a level playing field. Life isn't a level playing field.
Agree, but...

Some will have to apply themselves more than others and/or have some fortunate breaks to achieve similar levels of success.
This makes up for that IMO. I would agree that Donald Trump's kids had a leg up on most everyone else, but you see stories of kids coming from very poor situations getting college scholarships, playing at Carnegie Hall, etc.
Do some of us have to work harder than others, yes. But that is all it takes is the desire and will to make yourself better. In that sense, it's pretty level to me.

Sure, but the problem is that many kids born into the worst situations have little to no guidance and/or role models to show them how it's done.
You hear stories of rags to riches, but they almost universally have a parent who was a huge inspiration or some outside role model who took interest in their success.
On the flip side, there are some kids who are, in all likelihood, screwed from birth. Things outside of their control have torpedoed basically any chance they had of making it out. That is the issue with the whole idea that we're all on a level playing field or what not. We aren't, and we never will be.

If some have to work harder than others, it's not a level playing field. Honestly, no society is, not even ours. Like I said before, that's ok. That's reality.
Desire/will go a helluva long way, but those traits aren't panaceas. There will always be success stories and failures no matter ones desire level.
The socioeconomic class one is born into has the greatest impact.
