Why don't you just tell the board what answer you're angling for?

To be honest, I'm not angling for any answer. I'm genuinely wondering how, given all the circumstances, European civilization was able to advance so far ahead of African civilization. If anything, African civilization should have been ahead of European civilization at the start of the 1400's. but the exact opposite was true. I honestly want to know how that happened.

Indeed your point is fair and thus still stands.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's interesting. I think the answer (from my layman's perspective, of course) lies in the fact that comparing the two continents' development is a kind of apples and oranges exercise. Or, at the very least, comparing oranges to grapefruit or something

Africa is bigger, and as such, always had more influences (both without and within) pulling in different directions. Probably the only way for it to synergistically progress was for more cultures within to pull in the same direction, but, much like Europe, that simply wasn't going to happen.

Idk, it's a fascinating topic, in all seriousness. Will probably study more in my free time in the coming years just to satisfy my own curiosity
