Not saying there aren't, but the linchpin is being able/willing to spread one's influence/culture militarily. Different civilizations have had superior weaponry at different times. Other cultures had vast knowledge that never saw the light of day because they got wiped out. European culture as we traditionally think of it avoided the Russian roulette of cultures that rose/fell and were the first to effectively take advantage of a shrinking planet.

Very true. But my question regarding the disparity between European civilization and African civilization still stands.

If it's a matter of societal stability, then again Europe should be at a disadvantage considering the fact not only did African civilization get at least a two millennia head start, Western European civilization at the start of European & African interaction had just gone through centuries of being invaded by outside forces on top of having their entire civilization collapse in what history records as the Dark Ages. We forget that the very Western Civilization that began probing Africa in the 1300 & 1400's was only a few centuries past having their own civilization driven back into the stone age for all intents and purposes. During this time, Africa for the most part was allowed to develop on it's own without having to face such cultural disasters the likes Western European civilization had to endure. So what is it that lead Western European civilization to leap forward so much and so fast comparative to that of the civilizations of Africa?

Why don't you just tell the board what answer you're angling for?

I believe my point is fair and still stands.
