If I had to guess it's because almost all of the drivers are from the United States.
I grew up watching Nascar with my dad, only reason I enjoy it. He's worked Mars Candy his entire life and we had shitty drivers my entire life until Kyle Busch. It definitely makes it easier to watch when the car I've always cheered for wins.
