First off, writers need to stop using "reboot" when it's actually a "spinoff" or continuing a movie universe. I have far less issue with something that's continuing/adding to the universe a series of movies exist in.
But I'll likely give it a look for the following reasons:
It has a decent cast (even if you don't like Mindy Kaling) with Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Elizabeth Banks, and potentially Jennifer Lawrence. And they're apparently not remotely done in putting together a cast, which I'm willing to bet will attract some good talent.
Steven Soderbergh is totally behind it, working on it, and collabing with Gary Ross (The Hunger Games). That's comes across as sound for me. And it sounds like something they're been wanting to work on together:
And let's not act like the Oceans trilogy is really some untouchable thing. It's an entertaining series of movies. Nobody is angling for the sake of "diversifying" any awards shows or diversifying a franchise.

“We’re different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot. We discuss the cinema a lot, the shooting style, the rhythm, the editing style, and the music. We discuss it all. I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.”

exactly.
what we are getting is a spinoff of a decent but not incredible heist trilogy that started as a remake of a very mediocre Sinatra flick.
anyone whose butt is hurt by this is a titty baby.
