I agree with your point. Another issue is that in close games the difference can simply be who made two or three critical plays that never show up in the average stats. That is what I will judge this team by. When you have people on the field who will make game winning plays or knockout plays against the stoutest competition then you will see a NC competitor.

Last year I saw LF, Guice, and Adams play at that level. I am looking for Harris, Dupre, Dural, Beckwith, and White or Toliver to make that leap in performance this year. This is not to say they are doing badly but they become "go to" players in crunch time.

Like JC Copeland's fumble in 13 and our failure to convert on the goal line against OM last year.

I know we lost those games by a combined 6 touchdowns but I can't help but feel like we kind of quit after those two respective plays. I think if we take the momentum on those two plays the games play out much differently. No way to know if we'd have won but we certainly wouldn't have been blown out like we were.
