The only fuel left in the "Miles to Michigan" gossip tank is

whether Miles will stay at LSU for more than 1-2 years. I have always trusted that Miles wouldn't reneg on the statement last week when he said he was happy at LSU and planned to be there next year.....I believe that to mean the whole year, not just the frickin' NC game...that would be bullshite talk!!
However, my guess is that Michigan has let Miles know that they want him ASAP (2009 or 2010), and they'll let him have plenty of input on who they might hire as an "interim head coach"......
Until Miles makes a statement that says something to the effect that "I've signed a contract through 2012 with full intention of honoring it...LSU wants me here for the longer haul, and that's why I agreed to the extension". If Miles doesn't say that, then we'll hear nothing all year long in 2008 but the "Miles to Michigan in 2009" rumors.

You're thinking too hard.

Where do you guys get this bullshite?

Speculation, dear Sherlock....that's where I got it....I stated it well ahead of any ESPN commentary tonight about Miles keeping the door open for 2009 or 2010..
I didn't say it was "fact", just my opinion of a possible scenario.....we shall see, and don't call bullshite on me unless you know for a fact that this couldn't happen!

dude michigan will not hire a temp. coach in order to lure miles in at a later date. i'm speculating about this the same as you are when you posted this thread. how ignorant would michigan be to do something so stupid? i have a hard time believing this.

Don't drink the BONG water.

Yeah i dont understand this one. No school in their right mind is going to basically hold a job for 2-3 years. That wouldnt be good for the program.

I know for a fact that Michigan will not hire an interim coach to wait for Miles.
By the way, you are really going out on a limb, since it is likely that UM hires someone that doesn't pan out in a few years, thus opening the door again for Miles.
But, the fact remains that UM isn't going to hire an "interim" coach to wait for Les...and if you truly believe that, I'm sorry.

If Lester doesn't leave now, he isn't going anywhere for the next 5-8 years.

Well, until Michigan finds a coach that they really want........and, by the way, time is a-wastin' on them finding one.....then, it's more likely than not that they may end up with a head coach (whether you wanna call him "interim" or not is your call)who isn't what they want on a long-term basis.
Sure, if they could lure a big-name coach like a Saban, Spurrier, etc., then this idea of "interim coach" would be wrong, because few coaches of that magnitude would take a short-term contract....remember, 1-2 year interim HC contracts happen all the time, even in the NFL.

Wow, so Saban or Spurrier would be "long-term".
Saban has never stayed anywhere for more than five years and Spurrier is 62 years old.
It is obvious you are throwing shite at a wall hoping something sticks.
Regardless of your opinion of the UM coaching search, it isn't in UM's best interst to make a hire with a "short-term" mentality, and I guarantee you they won't.

michigan does not have a history of making big splashes when they have to hire a coach. this school sells there job on the name and they want tarnish there name by hiring a coach on a interm basis. there getting hammered now by there non successful coaching search. do you think these people are that stupid to make a mockery out of the um coaching position

Further, I would agree with you that Michigan would never hire someone that they thought would take their program further downhill.....but, a good nationally reputable Offensive Coordinator or Defensive Coordinator could definitely fill that job admirably for a couple of years, which would then give Michigan more options than just Miles, yet keep the door open for negotiations wih him later by seeking his advice on "who that coach should be now".
Remember, my thread started with the words "The ONLY fuel left in ......GOSSIP TANK".....just as it implies.....GOSSIP!! I personally want Miles to stay, but the gossip mill will continue until he makes it clear that he's here for more than just next year.

Just like all we needed to hear him say was "I will be the LSU coach NEXT season", then everyone would shut up, right?
Obviously not.
Why doesn't the guy just come out and tell us when he is planning to retire and to where...that way we can all get some sleep tonight?

The UM coaching job is already being made a mockery of by the media bashing of Miles and the so-called "behind the scenes discussions between UM and Miles".
I personally have no problem with Miles talking with UM to "help them" with finding the right person for the job.....but, it doesn't quell the gossip, such as ESPN now claiming that they're "right" because they're leaving the door open for 2009......well, that could be the case if UM doesn't move on quickly and hire a big-time coach that they're willing to commit huge dollars to under a long-term contract.

The crowd is out in full force tonight...Must be a full moon or something...
I may not know for a "fact" that this couldn't happen but if the whole "interim" / Miles to Michigan theory does pan out....
I'll sh!t a baby grand piano and play "who would'a thunk it!"
How's this for a theory, "Lee Harvy Oswald acted alone."
I know..plausible, but not nearly "sexy" enough!
Keep the "conspiracy theories" coming....

Why isn't UM talking to kirk ferentz, I mean he knows the conference and in the past 8-10 years more often than not they have been a solid team.
I hope we don't have to go through this stuff every year like we did with saban, gets really old.

Lloyd Carr wasn't a big name guy. I wouldn't expect UM to hire a big name guy.
If they were going to hire an interim coach to keep the seat warm for Miles, they could have done that weeks ago and avoided all of the media scrutiny.

Hey, I don't like all the BS that Miles has had to go through, either. As stated in my previous posts, I believe Miles got the worst of this whole debate and issue because of the way UM and the media handled the publicity on this.....
I trust that Miles is doing what he thinks he needs to do (stay at LSU)given how things played out....but, I'm not so much of an LSU homer to think that Miles couldn't/wouldn't leave later.....and yes, just like you, I'm frustrated that Miles, the team, and our fans have to continually be defending Miles on something that he's already stated plainly won't happen....which is "leaving LSU in 2008"...but, until he says "I'm not leaving in 2009 or 2010 either, then the gossip rumors will still be running next year, especially if UM doesn't sign a big-time coach and/or have a great year in 2008.
