I wish people wouldn't fall to that level because it is an easily defeated point.

I don't think it is when a rule exists forcing you to interview a certain amount of minority candidates. If they're the most qualified, why do we need a rule forcing them to be considered?

The Rooney Rule is asinine and I've said so myself.

I'm saying the metrics uses to determine which CB sees the field are significantly less prone to subjectivity than which coach you hire for a particular job.

I don't believe qualified black coaches are getting passed up because of their race, but I think their social choices and the social choices of those who make the decisions don't often commingle. I'm not even sure there is a problem that needs to be fixed, it is just human nature.

Faulty logic to think that the most qualified guy is always the one that gets the job. There's far too many examples of coaches that have done nothing being hired over and over again over fresh candidates.

It's not a racist thing, it's a comfort level thing. A lot of coaches that haven't really done anything but keep getting hired establish a real rapport with the owner and upper management. The owner wants someone he can relate to. It's not a surprise that a lot of those guys are white.

In a sense, I suppose many minority candidates are underqualified since gaining a level of trust/rapport with the owner and upper management beyond the x's and o's acumen is a tacit qualification.
