You could literally skip it and the show wouldn't change outside of the docks. It does nothing for the story arc and the fricking idiot kid is such a hateable character.

I loved season 1 so much, then that character almost ruined the whole series for me. He was that fricking annoying. Season 3 and 4 got me back on board. Season 5 was a bit outlandish and ridiculous. Still a great series overall.

Everything that happens in season 3 is set up by Stringers actions in season 2. Killing Dee was the start to the Avon/Stringer beef. Sending Omar after Brother.
Yeah ziggy sucks but the rest of the dock people are likable. Frank's story is great.
Plus it has the two best scenes in the series; Mcnulty getting hookers and Omar testifying
