I enjoyed watching his show when I was a kid.
Picked up one of his books in a store in Natchitoches recently. The recipes sounded simplistic and, often, terrible.
They also lacked detail. They would say things like "fry in hot grease" with no hint of temp or time. Maybe folks back then just knew those things. Or maybe it wasn't a serious cookbook; just a souvenir to sell to TV fans.
