Straw Purchase - When a prohibited person gets another person to purchase a gun on their behalf.
Form 4473 11.a Instructions: You are the actual transferee/buyer if you are purchasing the firearm for yourself or otherwise acquiring the firearm for yourself. You are also the the actual transferee/buyer if you are legitimately purchasing the firearm as a gift for a third party.
If someone gives you a firearm and you are not a prohibited person there is nothing to worry about on your end. It is simply now yours. There is also no registration or paperwork you have to have handy.
