That is because golf doesn't belong in the Olympics.

has anyone looked at how terrible the field is for golf at the olympics?
the 24th-highest ranked player there hasn't ever made a cut at a major.
the 27th-highest ranked player there hasn't made a cut at a major in 10 years.
countless other dudes who are only there because they are the highest ranked player from their country. yes, i understand it is that way in other sports in the olympics, but those other sports aren't golf.
golf is one of the sports where a random guy can have a good 4 days and win a tournament. we see it all the time on the pga tour, in tournaments with much better fields than we'll see at the olympics (vaughn taylor, jim herman, william mcgirt just this year, as examples).
but if one of these dudes plays above their heads for a few days in rio, they could win an olympic medal. that's just stupid, to me.
note: even if the likes of rory, spieth, day, scott, DJ were at the olympics, it would still be a MUCH weaker field than a major or WGC event.
