So how far in advance was this whole thing planned?

Or did a couple of people just decide to strap on some guns tonight and start picking off cops?

The peaceful rally itself only scheduled a few days ago. So I read.

Hard to believe this was this well-conceived in the last 48 hours.

Well no one knew more than a couple of days ago that this event was going to occur, and if you have the weapons, all you have to know is the route.

From the small amount of video that's been released, I don't know that this specific incident was planned much in advance. I do think they've had some sort of basic military training, especially after seeing the 'pillar' video.

Could've had it planned for years without a specific date.
Just waiting for the right situation.

Just crazy they were able to get a large arsenal of guns & ammo into those large public buildings and triangulate an attack

The latter. This wasn't a great target honestly. Every cop is out and on high alert. It's not exactly the ideal day to go a-cop-hunting.

It turned out well for them, but I don't see how.

This was passion and opportunity.

Calculating would be something like picking off one or two and waiting for the parade funeral, taking a spot, and "executing" as many police as possible with a reduced chance of casualties.

BLM protest are common in every city now. They could have scouted previous protest and just sat back and waited for the next one.

This wasn't as complex as some people are making it to be.

It was an idea just waiting for an opportunity. Actual planning went on as soon as protests were announced.

I think this was something planned well in advance...but waiting for "the right situation" to put in action.
