Not being an arse, but with y'all not used to running the lake it may be best to stay around sammy gill. There are two ways to catch them in the daylight this time of year. You go down south and drop grass or ( like me ) you go north and fish the river. You may find fish schooling at the mouth of sammy gill mid-morning. Just depends on what the shad are doing. It's a big body of water if you don't know it, but trust me, it's not nearly as dangerous as people make it out to be. Now Sam Rayburn, 45 mins west of there, that one will kill you. Corps laid it out wrong when it was built.

Yea staying close does sound good to me too... Have you ever fished out in the bayou right where coming from the wildwood resort launch will lead you to? I read a couple online entries about catching big fish there
