I think Gary is great, best CFB color guy.


But the above statement while true, is not from just him seeing something. He meets with both head coaches before every game and is given "insider" info for the broadcast.

Meaning, a coach may say if it's this and that at this point in the game, look for us to do such and such.

No doubt he talks to the coaches and gets their take on some formations, plays, etc they like. Still impressive that he's able to diagnose it before the play with a million other things going on, such as recapping the last play or correcting Verne's Freudian slips.

Every single announcer has this opportunity. Gary makes the most of it.
