This is my first post after years of reading, I hope I abide by the rules, if not please tell me and I will fix!
Just curious what puts him ahead of Matt Riser who has the tools of running a program, budgeting, staffing, recruiting, academics, etc already in his arsenal. I know Andy is a rising star but you cant ignore what Riser has done in Hammond with considerable less resources than Andy has here at LSU. I hope he stays, but I dont see what makes him 100% over Riser at this stage. and Remember... the Tulane AD is NOT a Tulane guy, from the mid east with NO previous Tulane ties. He's just as likely to hire somone from god knows where as he is to hire Canizaro or Riser.

Welcome, and nice username. I would say Andy is a better choice because his resume is a bit "flashier" than Rizers. Andy was a professional evaluator after a superb career and then came to LSU and produced two years of great hitting. Sure it might have been something to do with the talent level here versus somewhere else, but I think most everyone thinks it's Andy's job to lose.

Tulane only has one shot at Cannizaro. He's not looking for a stepping stone job. He will be there for the rest of his career. Perfect match-- give him 3-4 years--he will be competing with LSU--TCU--VANDY in Omaha every year.

I'd say what puts AC ahead of Riser is recruiting nationally at a higher level. That's what you have to do at Tulane. You can't just fill up a roster with Louisiana kids.
