Keith Richards: Under the Influence on Netflix

Great documentary! Netflix has many great music documentaries, but I think I may have watched them all by now...

Van Halen in the late 70's and early 80's were the best band on the planet. Not to mention EVH reinventing the guitar. Sure there were sloppy drunken shows, forgotten lyrics, shortened sets, and probably more than 1 impregnated underage fan, but hey it was all about sex, drugs and rock and roll. The songs were happy, the band knew how to swing, life was good. Life was a big party. DLR era was pure magic.

The Sammy era has some great songs- Poundcake, Summer nights, Best of Both Worlds, Love Walks in, Finish what you started ect.... but this VH was a business, poppy songs, radio airplay, selling shoes and shirts.... and selling out. The magic was gone.
