Just started watching. Chad Loup and the whole team looks great. Reminds me of the upset of Florida in 97. it was before my time but apparently it doesn't end well.

Was an awesome game to be at. Kinchen was amazing. Still run his sideline spin/juke play in the front yard.

Those d&*m purple jerseys kept us from upsetting the Noles that night. They were 31 point favorites!!

I played HS ball with Kinchen. A total athletic freak.
It rained like crazy that night. The crowd was great. I think that game gave us false hope that Hallman might actually start winning.

Is that the game where LSU threw deep like the first play from scrimmage, scored, and the crowd went nuts?

I remember being up at halftime and the announcers saying "And that's what happens when it gets dark in Baton Rouge".

...I may be thinking of a different LSU-FSU game.

I was a high school sophomore and attended that game.. The rain was miserable and I was cold as shite but stated the entire game.. I guess I was a typical pessimistic tiger fan even at 15 because I never felt lsu was going to win..

Great game! Rained like hell that night. Ran all the way back to Tiger Plaza & we dove in really deap puddles on the bike path. Obviously fueled by Jim Beam.

I was a student back then and went to the game. I remember the sign they ran through. It said something to the effect of "Were number one and you're not. "I also remember it rained significantly in the first half which led to lots of wet T-shirts that night.

Kinchen caught a long TD pass up east side line heading south on the first play, IIRC.

Ha...First game I attended as a freshman. I remember students could buy tickets for $2 each. Rain was torrential. If I'm not mistaken, Bowden said the LSU game cost him the "mythical" National Championship that year b/c so many of his players were battered after that game.

I remember leaving campus in the rain with some friends from Mississippi who had convinced me to go to watch Southern play and party with them afterwards as I assumed like many others that this game would be over right after kick-off and that LSU wouldn't put up a fight! Turned out to everyone's surprise to be quite competitive in a losing effort! I felt like crap when the announcer at Southern's game that I sat through in the pouring rain, read the halftime scores with LSU leading that game at the half wishing I had hung around that night! But my trip to Southern turned out to be something special as I sat watching them get killed 35 to 0 by halftime as they were being thrashed by a little known QB at the time who played like a man among boys and who turned out to be an NFL MVP. The QB that Southern was facing was named Steve McNair and this was his freshman year at Alcorn State and his legendary college career was just getting started so my night was not a total waste as he seemed to be playing on an entirely different level as everyone else on the field and really put on a show in the rain.

This was the first LSU game I ever attended. I was 12 years old and my brother, who was in grad school at LSU, took me. We sat in the student section and it was love at first site. I remember it being the greatest moment of my young life.

We looked great against Florida State. Not sure how this team ended up 4-7.

Oh wait, Curley Hallman was our head coach.
