Isn't it possible that he lied about his age when he escaped Sudan and moved to Australia? This dude could be like 27

There is a thread on the RB from 2012 that talks about how the Ed Smith guy pissed off Country Day by taking all this money from them and then having Thon transfer out anyway.

I can't speak for the Australian government but when they come into the U.S., they're notorious for getting assigned a January 1st birthdate with a general guesstimation of a birth year depending on where they come from. If you come from an African village that speaks Mai Mai, it's only a verbal language. There is no written language to accompany it therefore there's also no paperwork. We had a Somali middle school kid that ended up ineligible to play football that way. They made him "too old" when he came in and the dental records were only able to give a general age, nothing exact enough to regain his eligibility.

As for the OP, you know the kid's situation had to be a shitshow when multiple big named coaches backed out of his recruitment.
