Tree 1 is a hackberry/sugarberry

Tree 2 is a box elder

Both grow in alluvial/ river bottom types of soil.

Good call on the boxelder. I just glanced at the leaves and not the stems. I've been out of the woods too long, but they are everywhere

I was coming to post the same.
To me, box elder is notorious for the leaves looking like poison ivy.
