I would say a week might be a little too long, unless you have a lot planned around country music. Some of the places Id look into are
-Country Music Hall of Fame
-Johnny Cash Museum
-George Jones Museum
-Opry
-Ryman
-Nashville Sounds game
-Parthenon, Centennial Park
-Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson
-Jack Daniels(hour south)
-Brewery Tour(Tailgate, Yazoo, Jackalope, Fat Bottom)
-Nashville Zoo
Also, depending on the week you're here, there's always a festival going on. Today is the Predators Beer Festival. There's also the Jazz Festival, Food and Wine Festival, Hot Chicken Festival, Whiskey Festival, BBQ Festival, and other assorted things.
