Ep1 Murder Mystery = True Detective
EP2 Boring Police Procedural = NYPD Blue
Ep3 Prison Show = Oz
They had a great gritty E1. I would have at least thrown in some new flashbacks of the murder night during E2 & E3 to keep the grit alive.

I feel that if they keep straying further and further away from the aspects that hooked us all in episode 1, the interest in the show and viewership will wain.
