Hammond has really improved it's downtown in the last 10 years. I used to avoid it but I now find myself spending alot of time there.

Give me an example of a city with a true downtown comparable to Hammond that is nicer.

He's not getting carried away. It is great. Several nice restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Minimal trash. I wish Baton Rouge had something like a Hammond downtown.
