2.5 is really small. That might be all the power it has. I would get a trolling motor.

Over about 75% throttle, I get no increase in speed but there is a definite increase in RPM. I think the plastic prop is flexing so I was hoping aluminum would be able to deliver at the top of the RPM range.

I have one. The trolling motor will only push it about 5mph and I would have to deal with the battery. The outboard has a self contained gas tank and only weighs 40#.
