And everything that was happening in LA at the time was also racial. The LAPD had no love for the black community and vice versa. The jury was mostly African American, and this was a referendum on the racist LAPD in the wake of Rodney King and everything else. He didn't need high priced lawyers to make it about race. It was always going to be the undercurrent and it was easily exploited.

Yeah, but he just doesn't have the ability to take advantage of any of that without money. The money and fame determined almost everything about his options. The police interviews would have been different. He wouldn't have been stopped from incriminating himself (by the police) if it weren't for how starstruck they were by him.

The venue would have been different if he didn't have money and that venue made race possible to successfully invoke.

The trial was lost the moment the DA decided to have it downtown instead of Santa Monica. Period.
