How many nights per month are you in a hotel?

6 Weeks travel
1 Weekhome

What is your preferred hotel chain and why?

Either Hilton or Best Western. No particular reason. Just got elite with them and stayed the course.

How many flights a year do you average?

Around 50-60 flights. Sometimes more/less.

What is your preferred airline and why?

I was with Delta, but switched to American last year. I like Delta more, but they don't fly to the remote projects in Texas I go to often.

Do you get to keep your hotel/airline points?

I book my flights with a corporate card because we have to use our corporate travel booking site, but get the miles when I fly. I also have an AA Platinum card, which I use to pay for my hotel, so double points.
How many miles per month are you driving?

Around 2500 miles. Just to/from the project.

Do you have a "territory," and if so, what is it?

North America. We will occasionally go international (Brazil mostly).

How does your company reimburse mileage?

.54 per mile if I use my personal vehicle.

Do you receive a car allowance, and if so, how much is it?
We rent with Hertz. When I am on a site, we get brand new Dodge 2500 Laramie's from Barco.

Do you receive per diem, if so how much per night?

Depends. Some trips are expenses, and some are per diem. I have had anywhere from $140 per night to $225 per night.

How are travel expenses paid (reimbursed from your card or company card)?

I use my corporate card 80% of the time. I only use my personal card when a place doesn't take Amex.

What industry are you in?

Renewable Energy

What advice would you give someone who is about to be a frequent work traveler?
I only travel because it doubles my yearly salary. I miss holidays, birthdays, weddings, etc. Sleeping in a hotel sucks. You get to see the world, but sometimes that is boring alone. Make sure you work hard to not always travel.
