For cod look for a minimum of 5 Mbps upstream. The cod servers cap you at 5 so going over is useless unless you have multiple devices running at the same time. Downstream speed is important for how fast you download full games and updates but won't have a huge effect on gaming unless someone is streaming video while you play.
In my house we have 3 computers 3 iphones a ps4 and a camera system that runs off the internet 24/7. With all these devices 50Mbps down and 5Mbps up from cox is more than enough.
Also remember to hardwire your gaming device, makes a HUGE difference. Hardware (modem/router) have a substancial role also.
