Fraley was batting today and they showed the umpire come around, clean off the plate and it looked like he said something to Fraley. The next shot showed the pitcher (apparently upset about something) and then their geriatric coach came out and said something to the home plate umpire, I believe. Can someone enlighten me as to what that was all about?

There were two missed timeouts that Fraley was upset about. All I know.

He wasn't supposed to come up and show the blitz, that's what was said in the postgame press conference.

Fraley is just really not learning the new 4-3 defense like he should...

He's pissed Fraley won't play LB.

Wayne Graham needs to shut it down. He looks like Father Time's grand dad

Fraley felt that Amador was quick pitching.

Fraley backed out of the box, and called time out. It was a little late, and the ump didn't give him the time. The pitch was a ball, and counted as such...Now, did Fraley backing out cause him to throw it outside? Who knows, but it would have counted as a free strike, if the pitcher would have put it down the middle. Their coaches asked for a count, and the Ump clearly said one and one, with his hands, to their dugout. The last pitch was inside, and their pitcher was pissed that he didn't get the call, or that he didn't realize it was ball 4....I think he knew and was upset at the call, but whatever, its in the books now!

80 years old.
Damn! It's time for that coach to retire.
He's on borrowed time as it is.
I just thought I was old.
Damn!

Why should he retire?

He's still producing outstanding teams and is king at Rice.

Until the 7th inning of our final regional game he had a national seed sweating bullets.

Graham retire-- not until they pry that lineup card from his cold dead hands. And that's OK!! He's been a wonderful role model for young men.

I think Fraley stepping out of the box was quietly effective, even if it wasn't a carefully thought out strategic decision.

You could clearly see Amador's frustration after that first walk, and he unraveled quickly thereafter. I doubt Deichmann sees that good of a pitch - even though he hit a couple of piss rockets in his other at-bats - had Fraley not stepped out there. Amador was in such a good grove and that walk messed with his head.

I think the ump was telling Fraley to stay in the box. He didn't give him "time" either time Fraley asked for it, but Jake stepped out both times

His team was fundamentally sound. The old fart is still doing a great job.
Hope that my mind is still working at 80. Its just six years away.

Amador was upset more with ump's strike zone decreasing.

I actually think the ump said " I trying to settle a debate on TD, what do you call your hair style" an assistant informed the old coach and Graham being hard of hearing walked out to hear the answer because he was curious as well.
