I would argue that since the Battlefield 1 reveal trailer is the most liked video in the history of youtube, and the general hype around it being higher than the average battlefield release, that supposed risk about it has been disproven. At least it terms of wether or not the game will sell well. Wether or not the game is any good is another story. But after the disaster of battlefront, is there anywhere else to go but up?

I think the like/dislike thing with COD/BF was more excellent timing on EAs part to capitalize on poor COD reception. Though I'd be quite amused if WW1 turns out to be a fan favorite time period
