What parish? Each court has a different set of rules. Don't just go pay the ticket. Show up on your court date and ask to talk to the D.A. If this is not possible, plead NOT guilty and get a trial date. On that day you can pre-try the case with the D.A. If they won't dismiss it they should at least let you plead to a non-moving violation such as a brake tag. If not, ask to plead under C.C.P. 894. This will keep it off your driving record.
