But Salmon is right.
I had three kids by two diff women. Wife 1 had my views of food for kids, they ate what we ate ( with common sense exceptions of course...things with super strong flavors will over power a kids taste buds...but we are talking pretty rare selections like blue cheese, asparagus, etc) Kid 1 grew up with no food aversions and still eats healthier than her parents.
Wife 2 and kids 2 and 3. Wife 2(she loves that name), is a tremendous mother and wife...but thinks if the kids don't eat each and every meal....they die. So if they refuse their food, she prepares them an alternative. We try to keep it healthy and when we have time, we succeed in providing a good option. As life has gotten busier, we are falling into crap food because it is a little easier.
Long and short of it, kids should be able to eat, and enjoy the same foods as the parents.
