re: My Non-travel ball playing nephew just made the HS baseball team

I didn't even play summer ball my last 2 years of HS and still started and finished all-metro of my HS team. This wasn't 1A or 2A either. I wanted to do things like travel and work. Im sure my HS coach would have preferred I played, but I always had my shite together and was ready to go by springtime. He didn't question me. I played travel ball from 4th grade until my sophomore year. I was over that shite and wanted a life in the summer. It's fun when you're a kid running around hotel to hotel, but by late HS, there is so many other things I would have rather been doing.

I will say it probably hurt with college recruiting. I had small offers, but it was purely from my school ball and attending a few showcases.
