This thread is idiotic. Where do people come up with this shite? There has never been a statement anywhere close to saying LSU will discontinue the tradition of a live mascot.

I was just double checking because I think F. King Alexander would surrender faster than the French Army in 1940...

the comments on the Big Cat Rescue facebook site are classic...and now I'm not the only LSU person ripping them apart...

Personally I think BCW is jealous that LSU can offer far better medical care and living conditions than they can...

There was never a statement from Ringling Bros. about getting rid of their elephants until the decision was made. Same thing with Seaworld and their killer whales.

You can bet that LSU will be under a ton of pressure from the SJW/PETA types to not replace Mike. It is not inconceivable that PETA could find a sympathetic ear at the politically liberal ESPN, for example, and ESPN threatens the SEC they won't renew the TV contract if LSU has a tiger on campus.

The thing is, a new Mike will already be in captivity somewhere, and it is a lead pipe cinch his new digs on North Stadium Drive (with a very good vet school with plenty of tiger experience less than a mile away) will be a tremendous upgrade for him.
