Rent an apt for sure. Something near the center of the city makes it real easy to get around. Notre Dame is actually the dead center of Paris so anything in that area is nice. Close to Latin Quarter, etc

I'd rent an apartment in the next 30 days. Get something with a small kitchen and balcony. The best stuff books a year out often times for peak times.
