He has great rhythm. He lets the barrel work behind him as he starts the swing with his lower half.
It looks slow because it is so smooth and effortless and the barrel stays in the strike zone for a long time. You would think he would be victimized on inside fastballs but the swing starts on such a flat plane through the zone he can inside out them with enough exit speed to get through the infield.

It's funny how we always seem to find a solid-at-worst third baseman to man the hot corner. Reid has looked great thus far and I think he'll develop into a great hitter as time goes on.
As far as Lochridge, we'll find a spot for him a la Jared Foster even if Reid beats him out.
