I believe him on the New Orleans sniping story for two reasons.
1. If it was true, the military would scratch it's collective head and say "Hmmm, Never heard of that." They are apparently doing this. They would do this either way but...
2. I had an ex Army Ranger in Orlando (He was from New Orleans and still has friends and family there. He also returns every few months.) tell me about a week after Katrina there was a Seal team in N.O. taking out hostiles. This was long before the book was ever written. I could have sworn he said they were operating around Canal Blvd. though.

Everyone seems to know a military guy who knows for a fact special forces were killing people left and right after Katrina. These stories are bullshite just like the rescue dogs dying in the water. NOPD was the only group killing civilians.
