Friends of ours lived less than 45 minutes north of SLC and they loved it when they lived there(they just moved to Vegas for a HUGE job promotion for the husband). We went to visit them and stayed a week. Spent a day driving about SLC checking it out. Like others said, very clean city. Obviously all the Mormon temples there are pretty prominent. Most everyone in our friend's neighborhood is LDS(with the main bishop or whatever or their neighborhood temple living across the street from our friends). Our friends were living together before they married and said all of the neighbors were very nice to them.
Such great access to amazing outdoor activities no matter the season. Also...living in Utah...the mighty 5(Utah's national parks) is right in your backyard. My husband would move us there in a heartbeat if we could both get great jobs there, he loved the outdoors there so much.
Weird liquor laws like I mentioned. They won't sell beer there over certain alcohol percentage either. Beer sold in grocery stores not over 4%. Any beer over that percentage served in a bar has to be in a bottle. Draft beer can only be 4%.
Cocktails can only contain up to 2.5 oz of liquor...no doubles or sidecars allowed
Bartenders at restaurants that opened after 2012 cannot mix your drink where you can see it. This doesn't apply to bars and clubs.
