Same here. still not sure it's pattern is more bold than some of the pics I have seen of some of these.

Looks like a prairie kingsnake to me. Lampropeltis calligaster. The juveniles are often boldly patterned like that.

Do you have a picture that you took with something other than a potato? I highly doubt it's any sort of water snake due to its smooth glossy appearance but it is really tough to say with that picture.
