FYI, just did a square foot calculation using a map tool. In order to fit a stadium using approximately the same area as the Superdome in the area you are referring, they would have to get rid of large swathes of major roads like Tchoupitoulas, or have those roads go underneath the stadium or something. Would be a pretty serious job to fit a stadium there.

You are too close to the river. You are probably looking at the empty lot by the convention center which IIRC is part of the convention center expansion and hotel complex. I'm talking about redeveloping the ghetto in between Carrollton and Simon Bolliver Ave. LINK
