Pelicans could play a season or 2 in the superdome or new stadium while a new arena was being built.

Which was my point as to why they would need to be done stadium first then arena.

I was working under the impression that everyone understand that the deals would be negotiated when the leases run out, but the construction of both stadiums would not be at the same time.

I see that being the battle. But they'll have to get over it. I love the Superdome, but isn't the Roman Coliseum. It will need to be replaced eventually, or we lose the team.

Like I said if you look at google maps there is plenty of land on the upriver side of the approaches to the CCC that could be redeveloped for a new stadium and arena. So if the city wanted to preserve the stadium and use if for something else they could and there is still room for a stadium with streetcar access to the French Quarter.

I don't think that will be the case in 10 years. I see that area as the next spot for development.

FYI, just did a square foot calculation using a map tool. In order to fit a stadium using approximately the same area as the Superdome in the area you are referring, they would have to get rid of large swathes of major roads like Tchoupitoulas, or have those roads go underneath the stadium or something. Would be a pretty serious job to fit a stadium there.
