re: Why are bassists looked down on

I never really thought there was much bassist bashing from my view. I think they're an integral part to any band at hold down the bottom and coming up with revolutions on their own. I feel their growth in notoriety can be greatly attributed to the British Invasion when The Beatles had Paul up front singing prominently with that Hofner Bass and his songwriting partnership with Lennon. Compound that with Entwistle's groundbreaking solo on My Generation and bassists would never stay in the background again.
