I don't know anything about deer hunting.

They don't see that monstrosity and GTFO of dodge?

They see it everyday and a big boom only goes off a couple of times a year. You have to lull them into complacency. It hides you and keeps you dry.

They aren't mandatory, they're a comfortable option.

Not really. Most deer dont think anything of it after its been there awhile. Its when you pour a sack of corn on the ground. They know damn well that corn didnt just fall out the sky so they are really weary when eating it. Most monster bucks will avoid a box stand but with luck you can catch one passing through. Its all I have ever hunted out of and I see plenty deer. My Summit Viper tree climber was stolen and I never bought another one.

My brother is a welder so all our box stands have a steel frame with plywood sides. the bottom of the box is 10-15ft high off the ground like a tower. When they cut over we can see for a ways.
