He also averaged nearly 15 trips to the dealership per year.

I'm sure you could keep most cars running that long if you have the car serviced at a dealership once every 3.5 weeks.

As for going exclusively to the dealership, he probably got screwed for the first few visits, but in college we used to take care of our regulars. Eventually they would get everything at cost plus 10%. Tires at cost plus 5 bucks.

As much free press as the brand was getting when he was in their dealership, it's worth it.

For oil changes? And all original? And a million miles in 8+ years? Nah.

We had a dodge fleet that never made it to 75k without some sort of power train replacement

Article said he averaged 125,000 miles per year. That's a lot of frequent oil changes.
