One of the most emotional scenes of the entire show is when Jim realizes that Michael is leaving that day, but keeps up the charade because they both know that it's too difficult to say goodbye. That was an incredibly emotional scene and you can tell that the emotion from both actors was real.

I'm pretty sure it was the actors in that moment. Those emotions were way too on point for it to be Jim Halpert and Michael Scott. Carell and Krasinski are both good actors, but that was Oscar level shite if they were strictly in character.

There is no way that was acting.
